Loading up the plane to harvest some bait

Bounty Baits was founded by Jerry and Susan Wiebe.

Before Bounty Baits, Jerry had been a long time employee of Kenora’s paper mill. The restructuring and subsequent closure of the mill led the couple to develop a business plan; soon after, Bounty Baits was born. By offering minnows, leeches, and worms, they meet both the retail needs of individual fishermen and the wholesale bait needs of lodges and local stores.

As a team Jerry and Susan harvest, package and sell bait from their home on McKenzie Portage Road.

As a private pilot, Jerry (Minnow Man) flies a float plane to the remote north where the minnows and leeches are harvested from natural bait lakes. The live bait is then transported to their home location where it is held in large tanks - ready to sell.

Susan manages the retail, takes orders and packages the bait.

Resorts and surrounding retail locations either pick-up or have the bait delivered–some of which is delivered by Jerry–in his float plane.
